I stopped by Black Iron Coffee and treated myself to a peppermint mocha, and wow—what a treat! The balance of rich chocolate and refreshing peppermint was absolutely perfect, and the quality of the coffee was exceptional. I also had the pleasure of chatting with Jason, and I have to say, he and his staff are absolutely amazing—so friendly and welcoming. The cozy atmosphere and excellent customer service made the experience even better. If you’re looking for a great coffee spot with delicious seasonal flavors, Black Iron Coffee is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu!
Very cozy coffee shop! It's inviting and a great spot to catch up with a friend, read a book, or do some studying. I got a hot oatmilk latte with their housemade black iron syrup. Would highly recommend! Will definitely come back to try other flavors if I should find myself in the area again. Also got a grilled cheese sandwich, and it passed the cheese pull test! Hung out for an hour or two with my friend while we ate, yapped, and sipped away.
Best coffee shop I have ever been to- and I consider myself a bit of a coffee shop expert. Their chai is better than anything I have ever had. Perfect atmosphere, fantastic coffee, and amazing staff. The owner is friendly and the staff is amazing and seem to love what they do! They deserve every award they have received!

I’ll provide summary of my experience, over the course of a few months frequenting this establishment. The Espresso: Immaculate. They don’t try to hide it behind sugar and syrup; they aren’t afraid for you to taste it. Even in their signature Black Iron Latte, you can really taste that deep chocolatey smooth espresso. The Chai: As a chai enthusiast, this chai recipe is pure ambrosia. It’s got spice, but the flavor of honey is at the forefront. Perfectly steamed by the staff, and topped with cinnamon (they’ll ask if you want that topping), the entire beverage is extremely palatable. The Baked Goods: You won’t be getting the sweetest pastries in the area. You’ll be getting the most delicious pastries in the area. The scones and the cinnamon rolls are a perfect balance of sweet and flavorful. You’ll eat them faster than you’d expect and leave feeling satisfied without fear of a sugar crash. Last but not least, The Staff: I’ve had many occasions of good conversations with the staff followed by me forgetting what I was going to order. They really care about what they do, and I have to credit the owner for encouraging their interest. The owner is very kind and very passionate about his work. Every single worker here makes your experience that much better. In full summarization, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good coffee or good beverages. It’s even made it onto our official local recommendations for our guests to our upcoming wedding!
I always stop in here when I'm in Howell and it's always lovely. Today I asked them to put sugar in my Flat White (a bit weird I know) and they were kind enough to honor the request. I also appreciate how they have the correct sizes for cappuccinos and flat whites, whereas at a chain you're going to get a cappuccino that's really a 16oz cup of milk. ** Stop on in to support a great local place. No frills here, just great roasted coffee (and homemade syrups if that's your thing). **
Wow, the coffee here is outstanding! We tried a flat white latte, and a cappuccino with toasted marshmallow syrup, both delicious! The added syrup was just enough to give it flavor, not overly sweet, the rich taste of the coffee was the star. We also enjoyed both a savory scone (caramelized onion and cheddar) and a sweet one (maple pecan)…great texture and flavor for both! Very friendly service as well, we will definitely plan to come back!
Decided to try this on a whim as I was in the area for work. Great experience. I very much enjoyed the atmosphere as I walked in, they do the dark wood interior look quite well! The young gentleman at the register was very kind and recommended the Black Iron latte, a recommendation I was thankful for. It has a very nice flavor, and not too sweet. The blueberry and lavender scone I had was also delicious, and again not too sweet. I'd make a return trip here even though I don't live in the area. Thank you!

I was so glad to learn this coffee shop is under new management and open for business. I really like their unique, self-roasted, coffee beans. I usually get the latte. Today, my companion ordered the chai latte. Both were delicious. The orange scone was okay (a bit bready) and the pecan scone was really good (more crusty and texture). Super friendly staff. Owner is doing good things here. I am excited to return!
